In 2025 we donated sewing equipment so that the Hayward Library could develop a makerspace at the main library. At the same time we donated audio/visual equipment to the Weekes Street Branch which was going through an extensive renovation whereby helping expanding the modernization of that library extension.
In 2025 the newly built library building at Chabot College will be named the Donna L. and Edward E. Martins Library and Learning Center. In a lifelong partnership between Mr. Martins and Chabot College this impressive $100 million building will be named after Mr. Martins and Mr. Martins will be supporting Chabot College with the first unrestricted endowment in their history. This massive exchange highlights Mr. Martins emphasis on philanthropy throughout his life and Chabot College's appreciation to him in return.
In 2024 we approved a donation for additional equipment for the nursing program at Chabot. This is the second nursing program support we have approved. This important department of Chabot now has modern equipment; the same that these new nurses will encounter in their first days on the job at a hospital.
In 2024 we supported KQED. This valuable resource for education and current events honored us with mentioning us prior to a nature video.

In 2025 we donated to revitalize the Koi Pond at the Japanese Gardens. This pond is a highlight of this sanctuary and was in need of repair. Due to recent floods and an aging filtration system the pond has turned green and some Koi have been lost. Our donation will refresh the decorative rock, treat the algae, and repair the filtration system.
Coming 2025 a new technology based Computer Mobile will be delivered to the Hayward Library curtesy of the Martins Foundation in conjunction with Edward Martins. Mobie Tech will provide computer access, mobile hotspot, and computer assistance throughout the City of Hayward.
In 2024 we approved a request to assist in the renovation of the Sulphur Creek Nature Center. The aging center is home to terrariums with reptiles among other animals as well as an indoor classroom. In 2024 a new technology device was delivered to UCSF that will enable the Dermatology department and the Oncology department to combine forces to explore the potential of future cancer research and treatments.
UCSF Dermatology Department is a leading source of research and treatment for cancer, grafting, and other related procedures. The Martins Foundation is proudly donating and dedicating a new laser in 2022 to help continue their cutting edge work.
In the Spring of 2022 the City of Hayward Library requested the funds to put together two new projects, a board game lending center as well as a music and video editing and creation center. The Martins Foundation was able to provide both to the Library with the help of Edward Martins personal donations. The goal of the library is to provide a state of the art music center where individuals will be able to create studio grade digital music, edit existing music, as well as create and edit music videos. The board game center will have a range of competitive and family games.

The Donna L. Martins & Edward E. Martins Foundation helped a medical student at UCSF to launch her career in oncology
In 2017, the Donna L. Martins & Edward E. Martins Foundation generously supported UCSF medical student Suravi “Blossom” Raychaudhuri and helped to launch her career as a physician scientist.
Blossom had finished her third year of medical school at UCSF and was interested in studying Hematology/Oncology, particularly lymphoma. The Martins Foundation provided support for her to work on several projects in the lab of Wei Ai, MD, a blood cancer specialist at UCSF, for a full academic year to explore a career in translational research. Her work led to a publication in a prestigious scientific journal and the opportunity to present at scientific meetings.
After graduating from medical school in 2019, Blossom went on to complete her medical residency training and additional research in oncology at Stanford University School of Medicine, one of the most competitive program in the country. Her research experiences as a philanthropically-funded medical student at UCSF and beyond truly solidified her career choice in oncology. Blossom will soon start her oncology fellowship training at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center which is affiliated with the University of Washington in Seattle.
We are always interested in hearing from local residents about needs of the area. Contact us with your ideas!
