Dumitriu Scholarships

John and Stella Dumitriu immigrated to the Bay Area from Romania where they found success in life and created a generous scholarship to students.  The Dumitriu family entrusted the Martins Foundation to administer the scholarships as our mission is closely aligned.  The Dumitriu Scholarship will kick off with two scholarships to Chabot College students in 2022 and we will always keep an eye out for Romanian students in the future to assist through their studies.

We are pleased to learn that our very own Edward E. Martins has won the CPLA Award because of his generous gifting to the City of Hayward Public Library.  The Library Angel award is issued annually to a nominated candidate who supports the public library system.

We are pleased to learn that we won the Organization of the Year award from HARD.  The honor was granted to us because of our commitment to the Hayward area and the consistent support that HARD has received throughout the years by Mr. Martins.  Mr. Martins was general counsel for HARD for 20 years, donated to the Japanese Gardens when the park was first being developed, and more recently supported it again as well as Sulphur Creek Nature Center.
